Raise money for The Penguin Project, and enter for your chance to win up to 50% of the Penguin’s pot!
The Penguin Project is a youth theatre program that is designed for artists ages 10-25 with disabilities who are paired with their peer mentors and rehearse over a 4 month period in a supportive environment where every participant learns how to confidently shine on stage.
The Penguin Project is a part of The Premiere Playhouse, Sioux Falls’ oldest community theatre. The funds raised from the Chase The Penguin Fundraiser fuels the creativity of young artists, provides accessible performance opportunities, and strengthens the cultural heartbeat of our community!
How to Play Chase The Penguin:
The Ace of Hearts has been changed to A Penguin for The Penguin Project and has been hidden among the deck of cards and two jokers, each inside an envelope. Each week someone has a chance to pick an envelope with the chance of finding the Penguin.
For a chance to Chase The Penguin, you must purchase a raffle ticket and fill out an entry form. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 tickets for $20, with additional price breaks the more tickets you purchase.
If your ticket is drawn, you win money AND the chance to find the Penguin.
You must be 18 years old to participate.
You don’t need to be present to win but you do need to state what envelope number you’d like to pick if your card is drawn.
How to Buy Tickets:
Purchase tickets in person at Altered Species Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm or online by following the QR code.
You must fill out the entry form and make payment to complete your entry.
How the Pot is Paid Out:
- The pot starts at $200 and will grow each week until the Penguin is found.
- The pot for the weekly raffle drawing depends on how many raffle tickets are purchased that week.
- If your raffle ticket is drawn, you will receive 20% of the Wednesday’s take with a cap of $300, whichever is less. The other 80% of the evening’s pot will be added to the Penguin’s pot.
- If your ticket is drawn, the envelope you picked on the entry form is pulled from the board.
- If you find the Penguin, you will receive 50% of the Penguin’s pot and the other 50% goes to The Premiere Playhouse.
- The Chase the Penguin fundraiser will continue until someone finds the Penguin. If the Penguin card is found early on in the game, The Premiere Playhouse may choose to continue the game by searching for another Penguin card (to be named at that time).
