This year The Premiere Playhouse is launching a Social Awareness Through Social Media campaign in order to shed light on social topics and celebrate a variety of cultural backgrounds on a monthly basis. We are planning to embark on a series of initiatives, to be documented on social media, that will empower us to commit to each month’s topic. January is Poverty Awareness Month and we are tackling this issue by hosting a Food and Fund Drive in benefit of Feeding South Dakota.
Feeding South Dakota is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization, with a mission to end hunger in South Dakota. Through their programs and agency partners they are providing food in all 66 counties of our state and fighting hunger in rural communities, metro areas and Native American Reservations. Their vision is a state where no one person’s health, well-being, or potential is hindered by the availability of nutritious food. Together, with the support of their incredible volunteers and South Dakota communities, they are impacting food insecurity rates by filling the tables of our neighbors facing hunger. The Premiere Playhouse is proudly joining them in this fight!
From Tuesday, January 9th through Tuesday, January 30th we will be collecting non-perishable foods in our offices at the Orpheum as well as spearheading an online fundraiser for Feeding South Dakota. Our goal is to raise 1,200 pounds of food and $120 in online donations. We have just three weeks to do it, but we are determined to make it happen! We will be accepting food donations at our upcoming auditions for Oklahoma! and Hair on January 9th and 10th to launch the drive then will continue collecting donations at our other events this month: our Holiday Gala on January 13th, our Penguin Project social gathering on January 25th, and our Tips for Beginning Taps Workshop on January 27th. We are also accepting donations weekly at our offices by appointment.
