Who: Any person interested in playwriting & would like to learn more!
What: A workshop in basic playwriting for beginners, novices who want to sharpen their skills, and anyone who’d like to submit a play to TPP’s Premiere Premiere’s play festival! The workshop begins with developing a playwriting mindset then moves to the building blocks of a play: event, scene, characters, dialogue, and plot. We’ll also show you how to format your play as a professional would.
When: May 6th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: 315 N Phillips Ave in the TPP Offices (South Door)
Instructor: Kevin L. Cole is a professor of literature at the University of Sioux Falls, where, for twenty-four years, he has taught every literature course under the sun. He also teaches playwriting and art history (1400-mid-twentieth century). Cole published his first book of poetry, Late Summer Plums, in 2016. His most recent full-length play, Loving Arms, was produced in February, 2020—a sort of prelude to the Covid shutdown. On any given day, if he is not at work on a new play, a new poem, a new piece of creative nonfiction, then he is probably traipsing through wetlands, riparian woods, deserts—anywhere and everywhere—looking for birds.
