Summer 2025 Education Production Team

The Premiere Playhouse is officially recruiting and hiring our Summer Education Camp & Penguin Project Production Teams! Positions are available for department heads (modest stipends available) and associates/assistants (unpaid apprenticeships or volunteer positions for youth). Take a look at the descriptions and requirements below then apply if something appeals to you!

Position Descriptions and Requirements:

Direction (Director/Co-Directors, Associate Director, Assistant Director):
Responsible for overseeing and orchestrating the interpretation, curation and performance of the production.
Skills: Ability to helm a medium scale educational production; ability to interpret scripts and direct/coach performers, as well as collaborate with the creative team and staff; experience or interest in working with disabled youth; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multitask.

Music Direction (Music Director, Associate Music Director, Assistant Music Director, Vocal Coach):
Responsible for directing the ensemble and principal actors in all music numbers for the show to develop a musically cohesive production.
Skills: Ability to interpret musical score and direct performers in their ensemble and solo singing, as well as collaborate with the creative team and staff; experience or interest working with disabled individuals; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multitask; musician skills, i.e. piano proficiency, conducting ability.

Choreography (Choreographer/Co-Choreographers, Associate Choreographer, Assistant Choreographer):
Responsible for designing and coaching dance and movement for the production/camp.
Skills: Ability to interpret scripts/musical scores and coach performers in the appropriate dance style, as well as collaborate with the creative team and staff; experience or interest working with disabled individuals; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multitask.

Stage Management (Stage Manager, Associate Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Deck Captain):
Responsible for managing the stage, cast, crew, and performances throughout the production.
Skills: Ability to meet deadlines; strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience or interest in working with disabled individuals; ability to multitask; time, space and personnel management skills.

Mentor Coordinator / Behavioral Specialist (Penguin Project ONLY):
Responsible for managing mentor pairings, behavior management, implementing accommodations & activity building
Skills: Ability to meet deadlines; strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience or interest in working with disabled individuals; ability to multitask; understanding of behavior management; time, space and personnel management skills.

Producing & Production Management (Production Assistant, Administrative Assistant):
Responsible for all aspects of the production including supervising, hiring, and working with production personnel to ensure the theatre delivers top quality productions.
Skills: Broad understanding of theatre production; ability to mediate artistic and technical discussions; budget adherence; ability to develop planning/scheduling/spreadsheets; experience or interest working with disabled individuals; interest in adaptive & accessible theatre production.

Scenic & Props Design (Associate Scenic Designer, Assistant Scenic Designer, Assistant Properties Artisan):
Responsible for the scenic/stage design and/or props design and execution for the production.
Skills: Ability to interpret and design sets and/or stage props; ability to collaborate with the creative team and staff; excellent oral and written communication skills; interest in adaptive & accessible theatre production; ability to multitask; proficiency in drafting for scenic designers.

Costume/Hair/Makeup Design & Construction (Costume Designer, Hair & Make-up Designer, Associate Costume, Hair & Make-up Designer, Assistant Costume, Hair & Make-up Designer, Costume Shop Assistant, Stitcher):
Responsible for the design/acquisition, fitting/altering costumes for the production and/or and designing and assisting actors in applying hair & makeup for the production.
Skills: Knowledge of costume design and hair and makeup products, tools and techniques; ability to collaborate with the creative team and staff; experience or interest in working with disabled individuals; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multitask.

Lighting Design & Electrics (Lighting Designer, Associate Lighting Designer, Assistant Lighting Designer, Electrician):
Responsible for designing, setting up and overseeing the lighting equipment for the production.
Skills: Ability to interpret and design lighting arrangements; ability to collaborate with the creative team and staff; excellent oral and written communication skills; interest in adaptive & accessible theatre production; ability to multitask.

Sound Design & Engineering (Sound Designer, Associate Sound Designer, Assistant Sound Designer, Sound Engineer):
Responsible for designing, setting up and overseeing the sound equipment for the production.
Skills: Ability to interpret and design sound cues; ability to collaborate with the creative team and staff; excellent oral and written communication skills; interest in adaptive & accessible theatre production; ability to multitask; ability to understand and work with sound/speaker/microphone equipment.

Please Note: Some positions are full and not all positions will exist within each Summer Education Production but we do hope to fill each team with a robust amount of inspired artists and educators to help us produce quality experience for our youth performers. The heads/co-heads (mentors) of each department are paid contractors, in addition to some limited speciality positions. All associates, assistants and remaining positions (mentees) are volunteer, educationally and/or support based positions. All team members will work together to achieve their department goals through the leadership of the department head. Application deadline is February 28th, we will send interview invitations beginning the week of February 17th.

Below are the projected production timelines as of now.

High School Musical Jr. (PENGUIN PROJECT)

Production Meetings: Once a week for 1 hour beginning the first week of April
Auditions: May 27th & 29th (reading day)
Rehearsals: Begin May 6th, 2024
Load-in: Begins August 4th, 2025
Tech/Dress: August 10th-14th. 2025
Run: August 15th & 16th at 7:00pm & August, 17th at 2:00pm, 2025 (3 total)
Load-out: August, 17th, 2024

101 Dalmatians KIDS

Production Meetings: Once a week for 1 hour beginning the first week of June, 2025
Auditions: June, 30th, 2025
Camp Hours: Begin July 7th (9am to 12pm) Monday – Friday
Load-in: July 14th, 2025
Tech/Dress: July 17th & 18th, 2025
Run: Cast 1 (July 17th & 18th at 7pm) Cast 2 (July 18th & 19th at 2pm)
Load-out: July 19th, 2025

Something Rotten Jr.

Production Meetings: Once a week for 1 hour beginning the first week of June, 2025
Auditions: June, 30th, 2025
Camp Hours: Begin July 21st (12:30pm to 5:30pm) Monday – Friday
Load-in: July 28th, 2025
Tech/Dress: July 31st & August 1st, 2025
Run: August 1st & 2nd at 7pm & August, 2nd at 2pm
Load-out: August 2nd

Summer Musical Theatre Intensive

Production Meetings: Once a week for 1 hour beginning mid July, 2025
Auditions: Submissions via Video for consideration
Camp Hours: Exact Days & Times TBD
Load-in: July 28th, 2025
Tech/Dress: July 30st & 31st, 2025
Run: August 2nd at 2pm & August, 3rd at 7pm
