Board of Directors

The board of directors oversees all aspects of The Premiere Playhouse business, makes all financial and legal decisions, and coordinates policy implementations which include long-term planning goals. The board meets monthly, but requires ongoing responsibilities between meetings.

The Premiere Playhouse enjoys producing high quality theatrical and musical entertainment for residents of Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities. The Premiere Playhouse board of directors is looking for energetic and dedicated people to help continue the magic. The ideal candidate for our board of directors would have experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas, including general business, fundraising, accounting, budget management, strategic planning, community outreach, marketing, legal affairs, and theater. Experience or education within the theater industry is not a requirement.

Tammi Waltjer-Haverly

Board President

The Position:
Elected: 2020 (Season 18)
Elected President: 2023 (Season 21)

The Person:
Tammi Haverly serves as President on the Board of Directors. Dr. Haverly is a dedicated leader in education. With over three decades of experience, she has held pivotal roles in our state, including, Adjunct Instructor at the University Level, Private Consultant, Contract Services for the state of South Dakota, and Director of Special Education at LifeScape. Her expertise lies in supporting individuals with complex disabilities and advocating for inclusive environments. She actively contributes to various professional organizations and has board experience across a multitude of organizations. She has delivered numerous trainings and presentations across the nation. She remains committed to empowering students and families through strategic advocacy and tailored educational support.

Scott Ostman

Vice President

The Position:
Elected: 2022 (Season 20)
Elected Co-Vice President: 2023 (Season 21)

The Person:
Scott Ostman serves as Vice President of Operations on the Board of Directors. With over four decades of experience in creative leadership and strategic marketing, Mr. Ostman has built a distinguished career in branding and communication across various industries, including agribusiness, hospitality, and healthcare. As the former VP of Creative at Epicosity, he provided innovative direction and oversight for dynamic brand development and video production from concept to execution. Prior roles include Creative Director at Paulsen and SONIFI, where he elevated market presence for clients through compelling copy and creative strategies. A seasoned judge for the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards and former adjunct faculty member, he has received numerous accolades, including over 350 ADDY Awards and the 2016 Creative Legacy Award from the South Dakota Advertising Federation. Mr. Ostman holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Minnesota State University – Moorhead, graduating cum laude.

Kent Hartsuiker

Treasurer

The Position:
Elected: October 2024 (Season 22)

The Person:
Mr. Hartsuiker serves as the Assistant Vice President of Business Support at PREMIER Bankcard, where he plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency. In addition to his professional achievements, he is dedicated to community service, volunteering as a Business Ambassador and School-Based Mentor with Lutheran Social Services Mentoring Services. He also actively supports the Meals on Wheels program through Active Generations and serves as a Kick Start Advocate, reflecting his commitment to uplifting and empowering those in their community. He shares: I am writing to express my interest in a Board Member position at The Premiere Playhouse.

Mary McClung

Secretary

The Position:
Elected: 2024 (Season 21)

The Person:
Mary McClung has over three decades of experience in healthcare management, and has made significant contributions across various roles, including serving as Clinic Services Officer at Sioux Center Health from 2006 to 2017. In this position, she was instrumental in fiscal oversight, physician recruitment, and quality improvement initiatives, successfully bringing five family medicine physicians and two general surgeons to the team. Prior to this, she held leadership roles at organizations such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Sioux Valley Clinic, where she oversaw multi-specialty operations and implemented innovative healthcare solutions. A graduate of Augustana College, Ms. McClung is active in professional associations, having served on the board of the Iowa Medical Group Management Association. She has been recognized with multiple Caring with Excellence Awards for her commitment to enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.

Clinton Store

The Position:
Elected: 2022 (Season 19)

The Person:
Clinton Store has over 12 years of dynamic leadership in IT security and cybersecurity management. He has successfully developed and implemented robust security programs for both federal government and private sector organizations. His expertise lies in aligning cybersecurity initiatives with organizational goals and customer needs, ensuring compliance with industry standards while protecting critical systems and data. Notable achievements include leading the security strategy for a multi-year federal satellite project and overseeing a comprehensive secure network upgrade for multiple federal agencies. He has authored key governance and compliance policies that fostered significant growth and trained over 300 professionals across various sectors. He holds multiple certifications, including CISSP and CISA, and specializes in IT risk management, security governance, and cloud security solutions.

Lary B. Etten

Board Director

The Position:
Elected: 2022 (Season 20)

The Person:
Lary Etten comes to us with over thirty years of experience in video and media production, and is the owner and manager of Etten Production Services in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he has created a diverse range of industrial, commercial, and instructional projects. He has also directed multi-media elements for numerous corporate events, including the acclaimed Holiday Extravaganza 2008. As project manager for the Wells Fargo Falls Park Sound and Light Show, Mr. Etten originated and oversaw a production that captivated over 650,000 patrons from 1999 to 2012. With a Comprehensive BFA in Directing and Theater Production from the University of Minnesota – St. Cloud, he founded the Sioux Empire Community Theatre (now known as The Premiere Playhouse), serving as artistic director for a decade, and has directed and produced more than one hundred plays across various local theaters. Notably, he directed the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s production of La Boheme, team-directed Don Giovanni, and directed the South Dakota premier of Bernstein‘s Candide. He has been recognized with the Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Individual in the Arts. His commitment to community arts has significantly shaped the cultural landscape of Sioux Falls.

Casey Kustak

Board Director

The Position:
Elected: October 2024 (Season 22)

The Person:
Mr. Kustak currently works for Sunrise Banks. With almost 16 years of extensive experience in the financial he has honed his skills across various sectors within financial institutions. His background encompasses roles in Retail Banking, Program and Product Management of retail banking and credit card products, as well as Digital Banking Development. He is a dedicated volunteer with Feeding SD and an active member of the theater community, deeply committed to the success of the Premier Playhouse. Through diverse roles in productions like Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, and Young Frankenstein, Casey has honed skills in storytelling, character development, and audience engagement. With hands-on experience managing props, costumes, and coordinating rehearsals, Casey brings a comprehensive understanding of theatrical intricacies to the table. Beyond performances, Casey has contributed creatively by crafting captivating preshow announcements that enhance the audience experience. A firm believer in generational involvement, Casey actively engages family in theater activities, ensuring a legacy of passion for the arts that supports the long-term sustainability of the Playhouse.

Carole South-Winter

Board Director

The Position:
Elected: 2025 (Season 23)

The Person:
Dr. Carole South-Winter was born in Sioux Falls, SD and has lived within 30 miles of her parents her entire life, even though she has filled 3 passports before their expiration date. She served for over a decade as the program director at one of the largest nuclear medicine technology programs in the United States; as Director of Education for the AHRA, Executive Director for Reclaiming Youth International, Director of Radiology Oncology, Annual Meeting Planner for the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences and Associate Professor of Health Services Administration in the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota for the past 15 years before retiring. Her research includes, cardiac readmission prediction using machine learning, global health and caring for the caregiver; her passions are education, music, and theatre. Dr. South-Winter lives in rural Lennox with her husband Steve where they are beekeepers with vintage campers and host magical outdoor listening rooms.

Aubrey Byrnes

The Position:
Elected: 2025 (Season 23)

The Person:
Aubrey Byrnes brings more than 12 years of expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter, working both in community settings and with video relay services to ensure meaningful and effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals. She has proudly served as President of the South Dakota Interpreter Association for many years, leading workshops, conferences, and two highly successful galas that strengthened and celebrated the interpreting community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Aubrey’s greatest passion is her family. It was her children who first connected her to The Premiere Playhouse, and through The Penguin Project she discovered a community that has deeply touched her heart. The friendships and connections formed through this program have enriched not only her son’s life, but her entire family’s. Aubrey hopes to continue nurturing this love of the arts for future generations, ensuring that the transformative power of theater and community endures.

 

Brandy Ann Fiala

The Position:
Elected: 2025 (Season 23)

The Person:
I am a North Dakota native and moved to Sioux Falls in 1998 to attend college. I graduated from Colorado Technical University in 2005 with my bachelor’s in business management and marketing. I completed my studies in 2018 earning a master’s in business administration from the University of Sioux Falls. I have Two boys, Cason, 10 in 5th grade and Kristofferson, almost 13 in 7th grade. We live on Lake Vermillion with our two dogs, Princess Love Muffin a kind Charles, Merle our loving goldendoodle, and our three cats, Oreo and Stripes.

Christy Ward

Board Director

The Position:
Elected: (2025) Season 23

The Person:
Christy Ward is an accomplished strategist, leadership development professional, and project manager. Christy currently serves as Leadership Development Director at Journey Group where she designs and delivers development content, drives employee engagement, and provides coaching and feedback to leaders. Christy has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of South Dakota. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths® Coach, and graduate of the Leadership South Dakota program.

A proud Sioux Falls resident for 30 years, Christy gives back through mentoring, volunteerism, and board service. As a strong believer in the healing and unifying power of the arts, for individuals and communities, she is thrilled to join The Premiere Playhouse family.

Thomas Kapusta

Past Vice President

The Position:
Elected: 2018 (Season 19)
Elected Co-Vice President: 2023 (Season 21)

The Person:
Thomas Kapusta, Esq. serves as Vice President of Governance on the Board of Directors. Mr. Kapusta is a retired Chief Legal Officer and Vice President of Legal, Audit, and Compliance Services for The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, one of the nation’s largest non-profit long-term care organizations. In this role, he provided strategic leadership in board governance, legal compliance, and organizational risk oversight while managing legal activities and advising on healthcare law and regulation. Following his retirement, Kapusta has contributed to his community by teaching business law at a local community college, serving on nonprofit boards, acting as a federal bankruptcy trustee, and presiding as a judge for a juvenile diversion program. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Juris Doctor from Marquette University School of Law, a certificate in health law from Pace University, and a Master of Law in Health Law from Loyola University-Chicago, among other credentials. He is licensed to practice law in Connecticut, Illinois, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
